Understanding And Utilizing
Storyboards, Concept Art and Animatics
To Achieve A Successful Litigation Outcome

It's true that engaging with clients who have experienced trauma can be challenging, especially when it comes to recalling specific details of their experiences. The emotional weight of these memories can make verbal communication difficult. This is where the unique skills of someone like Brian, a storyboard artist, can be incredibly valuable.

Brian's ability to translate verbal narratives into visual representations offers a powerful tool for communication. By creating storyboards, he can visually depict the sequence of events, emotions, and important details, which can help the client articulate their experiences more effectively.

Visual aids can serve to alleviate some of the pressure associated with recollection. They provide a concrete reference point, allowing clients to engage with their memories in a different way.

This method not only helps in clarifying the events for both the client and the therapist or practitioner but also reduces the potential for misinterpretation that can arise from purely
verbal communication.

In essence, Brian's artistry can bridge the gap between words and understanding. By offering a visual narrative, he can create a safe space for clients to explore their feelings and foster deeper conversations about their experiences.

This collaborative approach can ultimately contribute to their healing journey, allowing their stories to be expressed in a more accessible and meaningful way.

What Are Storyboards?

A storyboard is a series of images outlining the sequence of events in a given account of a story which enables the minute details of an incident or event to be explained and documented quickly and accurately.

Verbally communicated events may have concepts that are difficult to explain and can be better elucidated by visualization. Storyboards offer a versatile and effective solution to these kinds of problems that may arise in litigation.

The use of storyboards on your case can help reduce the overwhelming amount of elements from the depositions and make the details and experience easier to understand or comprehend.

For example: If there was a crash at an intersection involving more than one vehicle, storyboards can help to clarify and explain the events that led to the collision in sequence of events, the injuries sustained by the accident,  general overall directions of all vehicles involved and other factors.  Witness statements could be validated and clarified through multiple points of views and angles. Subjective words like “right” and “left” could be objectified. Any visible evidence and their physical relationship to the scene could be detailed, essentially,  bringing you “into” the incident itself.  Through the visual imagery of drawings, storyboarding will allow for a clearer and simplified understanding of the details of the case, and substantially reduce the amount of time needed to grasp them.

How Storyboard Can Help YOUR CASE!

The essence of storyboards, concept art and animatics will allow your legal team to be able to:

  • Assist Opening Statements in a more improved and succinct manner, thus providing detailed visual imagery to better convey the scenario
  • Allow closing arguments to be concise, accurate and understandable to jurors, the courtroom, legal team and all parties involved in the case
  • Furnish all parties with clear and truthful representations of the events at mediation or arbitration
  • And, when presenting complex legal concepts, storyboards will facilitate the smooth and effortless transition of information and legal details.

Your legal team no longer has to rely on just the verbal communication with a client, but can now to in a position to convey a story or presentation of the events with the use of images.

For example, in the case of a personal inquiry or malpractice case, the construction of storyboards is a process by which illustrations are used in a way that captures the scenario and allows all concerned – from the clients, to the legal team, to the jurors and the judges – to see and envisage the same story.

Within the TV and movie industry, storyboarding is an essential tool for assisting the Director and production team in bridging concepts from written or spoken word into the silver screen as well as providing important data for budgeting purposes.

Why Use Storyboards?

The construction of storyboards is a process by which illustrations are used in a way that captures the scenario and allows all concerned – from the clients, to the legal team, to the jurors and the judges –
to see and envisage the same story.

Within the TV and movie industry, storyboarding is an essential tool for assisting the Director and production team in bridging concepts from written or spoken word into the silver screen as well as providing important data for budgeting purposes.

The utilization and distribution of sequential imagery can create a unified understanding of the sequence in a storyline, allowing all parties to be on the same page, at the same time and provides a blueprint or shortcut to understanding the chain of events.

By creating a visual map for all parties to be able to follow is one of the most important factors of presenting a case and ensuring that the right data is accessible to all concerned.

When dealing with cases involving car accidents or collision, workers compensation, accidental death or catastrophic injury,  by focusing on the utilization that comes via imagery, it allows the story to be described and depicted with clarity in court.

The provision of storyboards in the capacity as an excellent aid to accelerate and map out the case’s narrative, and is an intrinsic part of the “toolbox” required to win the case and have a successful outcome.
